Senior Accountant / Controller

About the role

This senior, ownership‑driven position will lead the day‑to‑day accounting for our Swiss entities, manage the monthly close, and act as the CFO’s right hand on reporting, audit and compliance matters. You will work in an entrepreneurial environment where processes are built and improved in real time, giving you direct influence over the finance function.

Key responsibilities

• Own the general ledger for the Swiss entity, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking, accruals, pre‑payments, fixed assets and intercompany bookings.
• Perform bank, POS and card‑settlement reconciliations and maintain disciplined monthly clearing of open items.
• Book monthly payroll, reconcile social insurance, pension, accident and sickness insurance, and withholding tax.
• Drive the month‑end close, prepare financial statements under Swiss GAAP/Swiss Code of Obligations and produce management reporting with variance analysis.
• Prepare quarterly Swiss VAT returns, support corporate tax filings and coordinate with external fiduciaries and tax advisors.
• Act as the primary contact for external auditors, prepare documentation packages and strengthen internal controls.
• Identify and implement process improvements in accounting workflows, automation and reporting.
• Support liquidity management through cash‑flow monitoring, payment planning and short‑term forecasting.

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; Swiss qualification (e.g., Fachausweis Finanz‑ und Rechnungswesen) is a strong plus.
• 5‑8 years of hands‑on accounting experience, preferably in Swiss SMEs with production, wholesale, retail or agriculture exposure.
• Solid knowledge of Swiss GAAP and the Swiss Code of Obligations.
• Experience with multi‑entity, international accounting and tax compliance.
