Senior AI Risk Manager (Hybrid)

About the role

Swiss Re is looking for a Senior AI Risk Manager to support its strategic AI initiative, which is a group-wide programme aimed at making Swiss Re a leading AI-powered re/insurer. The role is not a traditional governance or compliance position: you will be the main Risk Manager for the AI initiative, ensuring that AI-powered solutions are deployed and scaled within risk appetite and governance standards, and giving senior management a clear risk view at key decision points. The position is hybrid, with an expectation of being in the office at least three days per week.

Key responsibilities

• Lead risk identification, assessment, mitigation and coordination across Swiss Re's group-wide AI programme
• Partner with project teams and senior business leaders across P&C, L&H, Corporate Solutions, Underwriting, Operations, Claims and Digital & Technology to identify material risks, dependencies and critical decisions
• Independently challenge business cases and solution designs, including financial and operational assumptions, and escalate material deviations or concerns
• Assess whether governance, controls and guardrails are embedded throughout the AI lifecycle and strengthen them as solutions mature
• Advise senior management and governance bodies on risks, uncertainties, options and trade-offs
• Turn recurring themes across initiatives into enterprise-level decisions, common risk positions and reusable controls
• Coordinate input from AI Governance, Model Validation, Digital & Technology, Risk Management, Legal, Compliance, Regulatory Affairs and Internal Audit
• Strengthen the AI risk community through coaching, knowledge sharing and consistent risk-management practices

Required profile

• 8+ years of relevant experience in the insurance or reinsurance industry, ideally in underwriting, portfolio management, operations, strategy or transformation
• Hands-on business experience in the (re)insurance industry, complemented by experience in Risk Management or other control functions (pre-requisite)
• Proven experience in major transformation programmes or complex strategic initiatives, including assessing business cases and financial assumptions
• Practical understanding of AI and AI-related risks across the lifecycle, including model performance, data, human oversight, third-party dependencies, operational resilience and the regulatory landscape
• Track record of advising senior executives and turning complex issues into clear, decision-relevant recommendations

Nice to have: ability to lead independently and navigate ambiguity, strong strategic and commercial judgement, and excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.

What we offer

• Base salary of 128,000 to 192,000 CHF for a full-time role in Switzerland, depending on profile and requirements
