Senior Backend Software Engineer (Python)

About the role

We are a fast‑growing AI startup in Switzerland building production‑grade LLM and generative AI solutions for enterprise environments. As a Senior Backend Software Engineer you will lead the design and delivery of secure, robust, and scalable core platforms that enable customers to deploy cutting‑edge AI technologies safely.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend architectures and API frameworks using Python.
• Architect and execute seamless customer integrations and enterprise‑grade platform connections.
• Collaborate with AI, product, and infrastructure teams to embed advanced language models into reliable user‑facing applications.
• Optimize performance to ensure low latency, high quality, and efficient backend operations.
• Develop light frontend elements when needed to support core backend capabilities.
• Drive engineering quality through automated testing, code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, and continuous deployment.
• Lead technical design decisions and take full operational ownership of production features.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with a strong focus on backend development.
• Deep expertise in Python and modern backend frameworks.
• Solid understanding of full‑stack development and connecting backends with frontend interfaces.
• Proven experience building REST APIs, microservices, and complex database structures.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices, containerisation (Docker), and scalable cloud deployment environments.
• Interest or prior exposure to AI/LLM technologies is a major asset.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and a craftsmanship mindset.
• Comfortable working autonomously in a fast‑paced startup environment.
