Senior Buyer – Procurement (6-month contract)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Buyer to join a global leader in active pharmaceutical ingredient production on a 6‑month fixed‑term contract in Basel. You will work closely with Global Category Managers to drive value, innovation, and continuous improvement across procurement processes.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with Global Category Managers to develop and implement site‑specific category and sourcing strategies.
• Support execution of sourcing initiatives for delegated spend, including tendering, negotiation, and contracting.
• Identify savings opportunities, build pipelines, and realize cost reductions.
• Roll out procurement policies, procedures, and tools to enhance efficiency and compliance.
• Engage with site stakeholders to align procurement activities with business needs and ensure supply continuity.
• Maintain and strengthen professional relationships with suppliers and conduct supply risk assessments.
• Develop and implement mitigation solutions for identified business risks.
• Support implementation of procurement systems such as SAP, Ariba, and e‑Auctions.

Required profile

• Relevant work or residency permit, or Swiss/EU citizenship.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Procurement, Supply Chain or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of strategic procurement experience with a focus on tendering, negotiation, and contract management.
• Certification such as Einkaufsfachfrau/Einkaufsfachmann or CIPS is an advantage.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a customer‑service mindset.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
