Senior Communications Officer – Humanitarian Negotiation

About the role

The Senior Communications Officer will lead external communication for the Centre of Competence on Humanitarian Negotiation (CCHN). Based in Geneva, the role ensures strategic alignment of content, digital engagement, media relations and public positioning to raise the profile of humanitarian negotiation worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement communication, advocacy and marketing strategies, including objectives, target audiences, messaging and performance monitoring.
• Maintain consistent branding and public messaging across all CCHN outputs.
• Create high‑quality multimedia content – written stories, videos, photos and audio pieces – and translate complex data into compelling narratives.
• Produce social‑media assets such as short videos, graphics and web stories, and design a social‑media plan to amplify CCHN activities.
• Launch brand‑marketing campaigns, adapt and localise initiatives for diverse audiences.
• Lead the production of speeches, annual reports, blogs, presentations and talking points on negotiation topics.
• Coordinate communication activities, supervise the Communications Specialist and ensure timely delivery of deliverables.

Required profile

• Senior‑level communications professional with proven experience in international or humanitarian settings.
• Demonstrated ability to lead a small team and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong storytelling skills and experience translating technical information into accessible content.
• Excellent written and spoken English; additional languages are a plus.
