Senior Compiler Engineer – Novel Computing Architecture

About the role

An early‑stage deep‑tech company in Zurich is building a novel computing architecture for compute‑intensive workloads. They are seeking a Senior Compiler Engineer to design and implement the compiler and software stack that will run on their proprietary hardware.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop a full compiler stack tailored to a new hardware architecture.
• Create intermediate representations, compiler passes, and lowering pipelines.
• Implement hardware‑aware optimisations and code‑generation capabilities.
• Translate high‑level workloads into efficient execution on the target platform.
• Collaborate closely with founders and hardware engineers on hardware‑software co‑design.
• Define interfaces across compiler, runtime, and architecture layers.
• Profile, benchmark, and debug generated workloads.
• Contribute to the technical roadmap and engineering standards.

Required profile

• Strong modern C++ development experience.
• Professional compiler engineering experience using LLVM, MLIR or comparable infrastructure.
• Solid understanding of intermediate representations, compiler passes, lowering and optimisation.
• Experience working close to hardware or targeting custom silicon, accelerators or specialised processors.
• Ability to operate independently in a fast‑moving early‑stage environment.
