Senior Computer Vision & Machine Learning Engineer (Medical Imaging)

About the role

Intuitive is seeking a senior engineer to develop cutting‑edge medical imaging algorithms for the da Vinci® robotic surgery platform. The role combines data collection, model development, and real‑time image‑processing pipeline creation to enable new imaging modalities in the operating room.

Key responsibilities

• Understand clinical problems and design imaging‑based AI solutions that address them.
• Develop and optimise computer‑vision and machine‑learning algorithms for endoscopic and ex‑vivo imaging systems.
• Analyse data from novel hyperspectral and fluorescence imaging devices and build robust pipelines.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, mentor engineers, and lead projects from prototype to product‑ready status.
• Communicate results to cross‑functional audiences and ensure technical requirements and schedules are met.

Required profile

• MSc or Ph.D. in a STEM field with focus on medical image analysis and machine learning.
• At least six years of relevant experience in computer vision or medical imaging.
• Fluent English communication skills, both written and spoken.
• Proven track record of solving complex technical challenges in medical imaging.

Required skills

• Python programming.
• CUDA for real‑time image processing.
• Computer‑vision and machine‑learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, OpenCV).
• Experience with hyperspectral and fluorescence imaging systems.
• C++ development.
• 3D graphics, modelling, and reconstruction techniques.
• Raman spectroscopy or histopathology image analysis.
