Senior Desktop Administrator

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Desktop Administrator to lead the design, build and deployment of Windows desktop images for our Basel office. The role is fully onsite and operates on a contract basis, offering a competitive annual fee.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and manage the full image release lifecycle.
• Build images that include the OS layer, drivers and applications such as Connect, NORA and Autopilot.
• Integrate all required OS patches, driver updates and core application updates.
• Test images on all in‑scope hardware (functional testing and user acceptance testing).
• Update OSD task sequences in collaboration with the SCCM team.
• Complete quality and compliance documentation (IQ/OQ).
• Coordinate with security, application owners and integration testers.
• Support pilot deployments, perform risk assessments and stabilise releases.
• Use DaRT for advanced troubleshooting of build failures.
• Deliver image releases for Topaz and NORA platforms.
• Apply updates across Connect, NORA/Topaz and Autopilot‑based builds.
• Test and certify new laptop models across Europe.
• Validate drivers post‑build using task‑sequence based builds.
• Maintain documentation, qualification records and test results for all models.
• Keep the environment up‑to‑date with the latest firmware, BIOS and drivers.
• Reproduce hardware issues in a lab, determine root causes and implement fixes.
• Coordinate with vendors for driver updates, certifications and regional variations.
• Create update packages and distribute them via MECM or self‑service portals.

Required profile

• Proven ability to plan and manage a full desktop image lifecycle.
• Experience working with SCCM/MECM and OSD task sequences.
• Knowledge of Windows driver, firmware and BIOS update processes.
• Capability to perform advanced troubleshooting using DaRT.
• Strong documentation and compliance skills (IQ/OQ).
