Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer (Laravel, Next.js, PostgreSQL)

About the role

A partner company, acting on behalf of the hiring employer, is looking for a Senior Software Engineer based in Switzerland. The role sits in an established engineering team developing and scaling a large, production-grade web application. It is full-stack, combining Laravel backend development with Next.js, React and TypeScript, and involves database migration, API integration and performance optimisation, with close collaboration with DevOps.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain new features for a large-scale production web application and improve the existing codebase
• Build, maintain and optimise backend services and REST APIs with Laravel and PHP
• Build responsive frontend features with Next.js, React, TypeScript, JavaScript and Tailwind CSS
• Migrate existing MongoDB components to PostgreSQL while keeping data integrity and reliability
• Optimise PostgreSQL queries, database structures and application performance
• Integrate and maintain third-party APIs such as payment gateways, ERP systems and other external services
• Manage background jobs, queues, cron jobs, scheduled tasks and workers
• Work with the DevOps engineer to improve Docker-based infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, deployments and cloud operations
• Troubleshoot production issues, take part in architecture discussions, code reviews and mentor junior developers

Required profile

• Senior-level engineer with at least five years of professional software development experience
• Strong full-stack expertise and hands-on experience supporting production applications
• Ability to work independently in complex systems, quickly understand large codebases and communicate clearly

Required skills

• Laravel and PHP, including backend services and API development
• Next.js, React, TypeScript and JavaScript
• PostgreSQL and MongoDB, with experience optimising database performance
• Docker, Linux servers, Git, CI/CD and deployment processes
• Nginx and Cloudflare; REST APIs and third-party integrations
