Senior Internal Auditor

About the role

As a Senior Internal Auditor in Kuehne+Nagel’s Corporate Internal Audit team, you will lead risk‑based and special audit engagements across the global organization. You will provide independent assurance on internal controls, risk management and governance, helping the business make confident decisions and continuously improve.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, execute and lead audit engagements covering corporate, finance and operational areas worldwide.
• Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, risk management processes and governance frameworks.
• Perform fieldwork, analyse business processes and identify opportunities for operational improvement and risk mitigation.
• Prepare high‑quality audit documentation, reports and presentations in line with Global Internal Audit Standards (GIAS).
• Present findings to senior management, monitor remediation actions and follow‑up on recommendations.
• Support the identification of emerging risks, strategic initiatives and business transformation projects.
• Leverage data analytics, AI‑enabled audit techniques and other technologies to enhance audit coverage and insight.
• Build trusted relationships with stakeholders while maintaining independence and objectivity.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics or related field.
• Professional certification such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or equivalent.
• Minimum 7 years of internal audit experience, preferably in a multinational or Big Four environment.
• Strong knowledge of internal control frameworks, risk assessment methodologies and GIAS.
• Fluent English; German is a plus.
• Willingness to travel internationally up to 30‑40 % of the time.
