Senior Software Engineer (f/m/d) - Mission Control (C++ / Python)

About the role

Hexagon Robotics, a division of Hexagon, develops humanoid robots for industrial sectors. It is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join its Mission Control team, which builds the software that unifies perception, motion planning and learning into a single system for task execution. The role shapes the system from the ground up, designing core architecture, building robust integrations and setting software quality practices.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain core components of the mission control software stack
• Architect clean, extensible interfaces that abstract robotic subsystem capabilities for higher-level task coordination
• Integrate and orchestrate perception, manipulation, control, planning and other subsystems into a unified execution framework
• Implement monitoring, state management and error handling for complex multi-step operations
• Maintain high software quality through automated unit, integration and system tests
• Work with Robotics and Product teams to turn algorithmic capabilities into production-ready software
• Contribute to architectural decisions and technical direction

Required profile

• MSc/PhD in Computer Science, Robotics or a related field
• At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience writing clean, maintainable code
• End-to-end ownership of decisions, balanced pragmatism and long-term code quality
• Strong communication skills; English proficiency required
• Calm, collaborative and pragmatic working style

Required skills

• Hands-on C++ and Python in production environments
• Software design principles: architecture, interfaces and design patterns
• CI/CD pipelines, version control, code review and automated testing
• Linux-based development environment
• ROS2, behaviour trees and HIL systems are a plus
