Site Reliability Engineer - Confidential Computing

About the role

Exoscale, a Swiss/European cloud service provider, is hiring a Site Reliability Engineer to design and implement its confidential computing product at the system level, working closely with product teams. The role takes deep ownership of hypervisor internals and operating system stacks, and includes maintaining the base systems. It is based in Madrid, Munich or can be done remotely within the EU.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and implement confidential computing at the hypervisor level
• Design and maintain operating systems and hypervisor fleets, from kernels to network stacks, including security filtering layers
• Contribute to routing and security automation systems
• Help shape the operating system image strategy, from bare metal to virtual machines
• Maintain and improve container runtimes, provisioning and deployment systems, and bare metal and hypervisor performance
• Contribute to the architecture of the platform, internal tooling and code reviews
• Improve systems and processes to be scalable and highly available, supporting strong SLAs
• Take part in the on-call rotation after a training period

Required profile

• Solid experience with Linux, its kernel and Systemd
• Familiarity with Confidential Computing concepts, including AMD SEV, Intel TDX or equivalents
• Knowledge of Secure Boot, chain of trust, attestation and key management
• Experience with KVM virtualization
• Good knowledge of eBPF and container runtimes
• Experience with configuration management tools and large-scale infrastructure
• Good English, written and spoken; EU citizenship required
