Software Engineer III, Android Virtual Device Framework

About the role

Google is seeking a Software Engineer III to join the Virtual Device Framework team, which builds core Android APIs that enable seamless multi‑device experiences and AI‑driven automation. You will work on high‑impact features that power Android XR, Android Auto, and cross‑device collaboration.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain foundational framework APIs such as VirtualDeviceManager, MediaProjection, and ComputerControl.
• Implement immersive features for Android XR and Android Auto.
• Architect security and privacy guardrails for AI‑driven automation.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure performance, usability, and security of multi‑device experiences.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 2 years of software development experience.
• 2+ years of Android application development.
• Preferred: Master’s or PhD in Computer Science or related field.
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and API design.
