Software Engineer III, Data Protection Acceleration

About the role

Google is looking for a Software Engineer III to join the Data Protection Acceleration team. The role focuses on building core infrastructure that enforces data‑protection policies across Google’s products, including Cloud and DeepMind. You will work on large‑scale systems, collaborate with cross‑functional teams, and help accelerate regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Write high‑quality product and system code that integrates data‑protection and policy‑enforcement components.
• Accelerate deployment of capabilities to meet critical regulatory requirements and support key customer engagements.
• Partner with cross‑functional product groups to embed data‑protection logic into core infrastructure.
• Build shared building blocks that centralize policy‑enforcement across multiple products and services.
• Improve development flows by adopting AI‑driven tools to reduce toil, technical debt, and increase productivity.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience; advanced degree preferred.
• At least 2 years of software development experience in one or more programming languages (or 1 year with an advanced degree).
• 2 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
• Experience developing accessible technologies.
• Master’s or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field is a plus.
