Software Engineer Intern - Zurich (2026)

About the role

Snowflake's Observe by Snowflake is an AI-powered observability platform built on the Snowflake Data Cloud, ingesting and storing logs, metrics, traces and events on an open data lake. The Infrastructure team builds, scales and operates the development and production environments behind it. It is looking for dedicated students for a paid, full-time internship in Zurich, starting in January 2027 or later, for 4 to 12 months (6 months recommended).

Key responsibilities

• Build enterprise-grade, reliable software for the observability platform.
• Work on data management from ingestion to batch-streaming, data processing control plane, metrics product features and enterprise features.
• Implement and test features in metrics processing, warehouse scheduling and query execution.
• Learn cloud infrastructure, including AWS, Azure and/or Google Cloud.

Required profile

• Actively enrolled in an accredited university program during the internship, with a completed BS and an MS or PhD in progress.
• Desired majors: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Math or related fields.
• Fluent English (spoken and written), strong problem-solving and teamwork skills.
• Bonus: research or publications in databases or distributed systems, open-source contributions, and big data engineering or data migration experience.

Required skills

• Excellent programming in C++ or Golang.
• Data structures and algorithms, systems programming including multi-threading and concurrency.
• Recommended coursework: algorithms, data structures, operating systems, database systems, distributed systems, cloud computing, compilers.
