Software Engineer (Leadership) - Machine Learning

About the role

Meta is looking for a senior software engineer with leadership experience to drive machine‑learning initiatives across its products. You will shape technical strategy, guide cross‑functional teams, and deliver scalable solutions that impact billions of users worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the team’s technical roadmap, aligning short‑term projects with long‑term vision.
• Communicate complex system designs and feature specifications to stakeholders.
• Identify new opportunities, influence staffing decisions, and prioritize high‑impact ideas.
• Lead large‑scale technical efforts, reduce technical debt, and resolve performance and scalability challenges.
• Collaborate with organization leaders to improve overall team and company performance.

Required profile

• Proven experience planning multi‑year roadmaps that connect short‑term work to long‑term goals.
• Strong data‑driven problem‑solving and ability to provide detailed technical feedback.
• Track record of leading cross‑functional, industry‑wide engineering initiatives.
• Experience mentoring senior engineers across multiple teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Required skills

• Programming experience in a relevant language.
• Hadoop, HBase, Pig, MapReduce, Sawzall, Bigtable, Hive, Spark.
• Integration of AI tools for workflow optimization and measurable impact.
• Responsible AI practices, including risk assessment and bias mitigation.
• Prompt/context engineering and agent orchestration.
