Solution Consultant - R&D

About the role

Benchling is seeking a Solution Consultant to lead solution design for its largest biotech customers. The role bridges scientific R&D processes with enterprise SaaS solutions, working closely with sales, product, and professional services teams.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with account executives and internal teams to develop account and deal strategies, shaping compelling customer engagements.
• Discover and document customer needs, translating them into detailed solutions that align with Benchling’s capabilities and the customer’s technology landscape.
• Present and demonstrate solutions persuasively, handling objections and positioning Benchling competitively against alternatives.
• Collaborate with product management to convey market insights and influence the product roadmap.
• Create reusable solution content, train teams, and mentor fellow Solution Consultants.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in a life‑science discipline (e.g., Biology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology) with at least 4 years of relevant experience, preferably customer‑facing.
• Strong understanding of biotech R&D processes and scientific concepts.
• Ability to act as a trusted advisor to senior scientific and IT leaders.
• Fluent English; German or French is a plus.
• Willingness to travel 25‑30% to customer sites.

Required skills

• Experience with scientific/informatics software such as LIMS or ELN.
• Familiarity with antibody engineering software (optional).
• Demonstrated ability to model scientific data and craft solution architectures.
