About the role
The Sr. Manager – Steel & Castings Procurement will develop and execute a global category strategy for steel and casting materials, driving cost optimisation, availability and innovation. The role leads a dedicated team and works closely with engineering, quality, product management and operations to align sourcing with Carrier’s long‑term product and technology roadmap.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive category strategy aligned with global supply‑chain, product and manufacturing goals.
- Optimise total cost of ownership through cost modelling, value engineering and sourcing innovation.
- Lead costed BOM development and ensure alignment with product lifecycle and technology roadmaps.
- Manage dual‑sourcing, re‑sourcing and supplier qualification to guarantee supply continuity.
- Negotiate long‑term agreements with strategic suppliers focusing on cost, quality, delivery and ESG compliance.
- Own vendor performance metrics (OTD, quality, cost savings) and report to leadership.
- Identify and mitigate supply‑chain risks such as single‑sourcing, geopolitical exposure and capacity constraints.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, product management and operations to embed sourcing strategies early in new product development.
- Partner with sustainability teams to ensure responsible sourcing practices.
Required profile
- Proven experience in senior procurement or category management within the steel/casting or industrial sector.
- Strong track record of delivering cost reductions and managing global supplier relationships.
- Ability to lead cross‑functional teams and influence stakeholders across engineering, product and operations.
- Deep understanding of risk management, dual‑sourcing strategies and ESG compliance.
- Excellent negotiation and analytical skills.
