Staff Frontend Engineer – Hybrid (80‑100%) – Zurich

About the role

As a Staff Frontend Engineer you will act as a hands‑on technical leader for SMG’s Real Estate vertical. You will shape the frontend architecture of our portals, build shared solutions used across teams, and drive complex cross‑team initiatives while still writing production code.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the evolution of the Real Estate frontend architecture, defining SLAs/SLOs and anticipating system‑wide impacts.
• Design and deliver shared frontend libraries, components and tooling such as design systems and performance tooling.
• Orchestrate multi‑system refactors and migrations, including framework upgrades and cross‑product harmonisation.
• Serve as the go‑to expert for frontend topics across teams and locations, influencing web experience standards.
• Mentor and coach engineers through pairing, structured mentorship and feedback.
• Identify and address cross‑cutting technical bottlenecks, improving processes, quality and delivery speed.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading frontend architecture at scale, preferably in a real‑estate or marketplace context.
• Strong ability to break down large initiatives into manageable, plannable pieces.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across product, engineering and stakeholder groups.
• Passion for mentoring and fostering a healthy feedback culture.
