Statistics and Data Science Specialist

About the role

As a Statistics and Data Science Specialist at Nestlé Research, you will apply advanced statistics and data science to accelerate discovery across our product portfolio, working closely with food scientists, product developers, process engineers, sensory teams and project managers to turn ideas into sustainable solutions for people, pets and the planet.

Key responsibilities

• Design robust lab and pilot experiments that generate reliable evidence and speed scientific progress.
• Analyse complex experimental data to extract actionable insights, quantify uncertainty and support decision‑making.
• Collaborate with scientific and technical teams to refine hypotheses and embed data‑driven thinking into innovation projects.
• Translate statistical outputs into clear recommendations for formulation, process and product development.
• Build visualisations and models that make complex findings accessible to diverse stakeholders.
• Drive innovation by applying advanced analytics to create better products, smarter decisions and faster learning cycles.

Required profile

• Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Statistics, Applied Mathematics or Data Science.
• Hands‑on experience with mathematics‑based data collection methodologies for robust experimental data.
• Proven expertise in statistical inference, modelling, optimisation algorithms and machine‑learning techniques to solve scientific challenges.
• Proficiency in Python programming; knowledge of R is a plus.
• Experience in data‑driven modelling for product design, preferably in food or related consumer products.
• Fluent English communication skills.
