UNCTAD Internship in International Trade and Commodities

About the role

The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) is offering a six‑month unpaid internship in the Division on International Trade and Commodities. Interns will work either on‑site in Geneva or remotely, supporting the Trade in Services Section and gaining exposure to trade policy, data analysis and outreach activities.

Key responsibilities

• Attend meetings and prepare concise summary reports.
• Support communication and outreach initiatives related to the work programme.
• Assist in organising webinars, round‑tables, seminars and related events.
• Provide inputs for documentation of technical cooperation programmes and projects.
• Draft contributions to technical papers and analytical studies on services trade data and policy.
• Prepare inputs for team presentations and other related duties as required.

Required profile

• Student or recent graduate able to work full‑time (40 hours/week) for six months.
• For on‑site work, a valid visa for Switzerland and the ability to cover travel, accommodation, medical insurance and living expenses.
• For remote work, a computer with a modern browser and the latest version of Microsoft Office 365.
• Ability to follow UN rules, regulations and administrative instructions.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 applications.
• Familiarity with the Windows operating system and regular security updates.
• Effective use of a modern web browser for online collaboration tools.
