VP, Head of Communications – International Business Unit

About the role

This senior leadership position, based in Zurich, Switzerland, is responsible for shaping and executing the global communications, reputation and brand strategy for Takeda’s International Business Unit (IBU). Reporting to the Chief Communications & Governance Officer and working closely with the IBU President, the role sits on the IBU leadership team and leads a diverse, geographically‑aligned communications organization.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic communications counsel to the IBU President and senior leadership.
• Develop and implement global communications plans that support business outcomes and reinforce Takeda’s innovation‑driven reputation.
• Lead integrated external and internal communications for data readouts, regulatory approvals, product launches, lifecycle management and sustainability initiatives.
• Establish community, social responsibility and sustainability communication programs in collaboration with CSR teams.
• Partner with Government/Public Affairs on policy communications and advocacy campaigns.
• Build and maintain relationships with media, analysts, patient advocacy groups, professional societies and industry associations.
• Drive transformation initiatives, employee engagement and change management across the IBU.
• Restructure and lead regional and country communications teams to ensure consistency and best‑practice execution.
• Develop crisis‑management communication plans and readiness capabilities.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in communications, preferably within the pharmaceutical or life‑science sector.
• Demonstrated ability to act as a thought partner to C‑level executives and influence cross‑functional teams.
• Strong track record of delivering integrated global communications strategies that drive business results.
• Experience managing large, multicultural teams and aligning regional efforts with global objectives.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with external partners, media and advocacy groups.
