Director, Enterprise Competitiveness and Institutions

About the role

The International Trade Centre (ITC) is seeking a senior leader to head its Division of Enterprise Competitiveness and Institutions (DECI). Reporting to the Deputy Executive Director, the Director will shape innovative trade support services that help micro, small and medium enterprises in developing countries connect to global value chains.

Key responsibilities

• Lead DECI through its Chiefs of Sections, providing strategic direction and substantive support.
• Develop and oversee the Division’s work programme, budget and strategic priorities in line with ITC’s multi‑year plan.
• Coordinate preparation of reports for inter‑governmental bodies, the Joint Advisory Group, and UN authorities.
• Drive resource mobilisation and ensure optimal allocation of human and financial resources.
• Manage, mentor and develop staff, fostering teamwork across sections and offices.
• Participate actively in the ITC Senior Management Committee.
• Oversee project performance monitoring within ITC’s Results‑Based Management framework.
• Maintain high‑quality outputs that advance ITC’s mandate and reputation.

Required profile

• Extensive senior‑management experience in international trade, development or related sectors.
• Proven ability to design and implement innovative trade support services.
• Strong track record in budgeting, programme planning and resource mobilisation.
• Excellent stakeholder‑engagement skills with governments, UN bodies and development partners.
• Demonstrated leadership in managing multidisciplinary teams.
