Political Affairs and Partnerships Intern

About the role

The United Nations Office at Geneva is seeking a Political Affairs and Partnerships Intern to support the Office of the Director-General. The internship runs for 3-6 months starting August 2026 and provides exposure to high-level diplomatic work in Geneva.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct research and draft country profiles, briefing notes and background materials for meetings with senior officials and dignitaries.
• Monitor developments in international affairs, UN agencies, and Swiss research institutions, producing analytical notes and summaries.
• Prepare speeches, talking points and other communication materials for the Director-General and senior staff.
• Attend and report on meetings and events organized by the Section or its partners.
• Assist in planning seminars, workshops and events, including speaker identification, invitations and logistical coordination.
• Maintain and update databases, reference material and institutional memory of the Section.
• Draft routine correspondence and perform ad-hoc tasks as assigned.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or having completed a graduate programme, or in the final year of a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent).
• Strong interest in international relations, political affairs or diplomacy.
• Excellent research, writing and analytical abilities.
• Ability to work full-time (five days a week) in an unpaid internship.
