Research, Management and Programme Intern

About the role

The United Nations Office at Geneva is seeking a Research, Management and Programme Intern for the Joint Inspection Unit (JIU). The internship, lasting up to six months, can be carried out on‑site in Geneva, remotely, or a combination of both. It is an unpaid, full‑time position (40 hours per week) offering practical exposure to the UN’s independent oversight and evaluation functions.

Key responsibilities

• Assist review teams composed of inspectors, evaluation officers and research assistants in conducting system‑wide evaluations, inspections and investigations.
• Perform research, data collection and analysis to support the identification of best practices and benchmarks.
• Draft clear and concise reports and briefing notes in English.
• Provide ad‑hoc support to the Unit’s ongoing projects and administrative tasks.

Required profile

• Strong research and analytical abilities with attention to detail.
• Excellent written communication in English.
• Team‑oriented mindset, collaborative, reliable and able to meet deadlines.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, anticipate risks and adjust plans as needed.

Required skills

• Proficiency with standard computer software, such as the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
