Software Engineering Manager – Simulation

About the role

As the Engineering Manager for Simulation at Hexagon Robotics, you will lead a high‑performing team that builds and maintains the virtual environments, tools, and workflows enabling the AEON humanoid robot to move from concept to reliable industrial deployment. The role blends hands‑on software development with people leadership, giving you the chance to shape a cutting‑edge simulation platform for robotics engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and grow a team of simulation engineers.
• Contribute directly to design and implementation (primarily Python) using simulation engines such as Nvidia Omniverse, Isaac Sim or Gazebo.
• Define and own the simulation roadmap, translating robotics domain needs into clear objectives and milestones.
• Drive system integrations across multiple technology stacks to improve fidelity and usability.
• Handle engineering management duties: hiring, onboarding, 1:1s, performance reviews, and fostering a healthy team culture.
• Make build‑vs‑buy decisions and collaborate with third‑party vendors (e.g., Nvidia).
• Ensure high quality and reliability through code reviews, best practices, and automated testing.
• Remove obstacles and resolve cross‑system issues spanning simulation, CI/CD, and robotics subsystems.
• Strengthen collaboration with robotics engineers, DevOps, product and systems teams.

Required profile

• MSc or PhD in Robotics, Computer Science or a related field.
• Proven line‑management experience (team lead, engineering manager or tech lead) with a track record of coaching and career development.
• Strong hands‑on software engineering background with production experience in Python on Linux.
• Experience planning and executing roadmaps for technical teams.
