Aerodynamic Engineer – UAV & eVTOL

About the role

Harmattan AI is seeking an Aerodynamic Engineer to shape the flight physics of its next‑generation UAV and eVTOL platforms. You will bridge conceptual design, high‑fidelity simulation, and physical testing while creating Python tools that streamline the entire workflow.

Key responsibilities

• Develop aerodynamic layouts for fixed‑wing, multicopter, and eVTOL configurations using low‑fidelity tools (XFoil, OpenVSP, AVL) and high‑fidelity CFD as needed.
• Support wind‑tunnel and flight‑test campaigns, define test cards, instrument prototypes, and compare data with simulation predictions.
• Write Python scripts (NumPy, SciPy, Pandas) to automate analysis pipelines, process test/flight data, and integrate design tools.
• Create and maintain aerodynamic databases and stability‑derivative tables for the GNC team.
• Collaborate closely with Mechanical and GNC engineers to ensure aerodynamic choices are feasible, stable, and testable.

Required profile

• B.S. or M.S. in Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Solid understanding of lift, drag, stability, and flight dynamics.
• Hands‑on experience with either aerodynamic simulation (CFD, XFoil, OpenVSP, AVL) or experimental testing (wind tunnel, flight test).
• Basic proficiency in CAD tools such as SolidWorks or CATIA to interpret geometry constraints.
