AMR One Health Surveillance Specialist

About the role

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking a consultant to support its One Health approach to antimicrobial resistance (AMR). The specialist will work remotely for a 12‑month full‑time assignment, helping UNEP deliver on Project ID 224168.

Key responsibilities

• Finalize the “Conceptual Roadmap for Global Surveillance of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) in the Environment” and develop a detailed implementation plan with timelines, milestones and stakeholder mapping.
• Create and maintain an expert group to guide UNEP on environmental AMR surveillance.
• Identify, analyse and synthesize existing initiatives, platforms and options for environmental monitoring of antimicrobial residues and resistance through research, literature reviews and stakeholder interviews.
• Collaborate with UNEP regional offices to respond to country‑specific needs related to AMR surveillance.

Required profile

• Proven experience in environmental surveillance, antimicrobial resistance or related One Health initiatives.
• Ability to develop implementation plans, roadmaps and stakeholder engagement strategies.
• Strong research skills, including literature review and interview techniques.
• Experience coordinating expert groups or multi‑stakeholder teams.
