Apparel Designer (m/f/x)

About the role

Carhartt WIP is seeking an Apparel Designer to join its Basel office and support the Apparel Design Team. You will work closely with the Creative Director and cross‑functional teams to develop fresh concepts, evolve the current collection, and ensure every piece aligns with the brand vision.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct independent and collaborative research to generate new styles, fabrics, trims, and details.
• Translate briefs into strong design directions and visual concepts, from sketch to clear design files.
• Maintain deep knowledge of the current collection, propose smart updates, and identify opportunities for new styles.
• Support seasonal build‑up, merchandising, and overall collection structure.
• Incorporate insights from Marketing, Sales, and Merchandising to refine products.
• Present inspiration, concepts, and product evolution confidently to stakeholders.
• Drive product development end‑to‑end, from technical drawings to final fittings.

Required profile

• Degree in fashion design or a comparable education.
• Relevant experience in textile/apparel design.
• Willingness to travel frequently.
• Strong interest in apparel, colour, fit, and Carhartt WIP culture.
• Good research skills and knowledge of design history, trends, and competitors.
• Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.
• Experience with 3D design software.
