Application Engineer - Technology Preparation

About the role

Rieter, a global supplier of systems for processing fibers into yarn and nonwovens, is looking for an Application Engineer for Technology Preparation in Winterthur. You will join the Technology Preparation Team and support the research, development, validation and continuous improvement of next-generation preparation machines, working with cross-functional teams and customers worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and evaluate technological opportunities for next-generation preparation machines and contribute to R&D, including trials from carded sliver to yarn.
• Perform machine conversions, modifications and adjustments on research, trial and prototype machines, and test and validate machine concepts, functions, software and components.
• Analyze technical challenges in internal laboratories and at customer sites, and act as a 3rd-level technical expert supporting Service Engineers, Customer Technology teams and customers.
• Support troubleshooting, optimization and performance improvement of installed machines, including on-site customer visits, and plan and run lifetime testing.
• Document results, recommend product and process improvements, give feedback to development teams and train Service Engineers and Customer Technologists.

Required profile

• Technical background as a Service Engineer, Textile Engineer or equivalent.
• Practical experience with combing and drawframe technologies; knowledge of blowroom and carding is an advantage.
• Experience with textile machinery and/or spinning mills, and a good understanding of textile preparation and spinning processes.
• Fluent English (mandatory); German is an advantage.
• Willingness to travel internationally up to 30%.

Required skills

• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.
