About the role
The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Bern and Inselspital invite applications for a non‑tenure‑track Assistant Professorship in Clinical Cancer Informatics, funded by the Werner and Hedy Berger‑Janser Foundation. The role bridges clinical practice and data science to transform real‑world cancer data into actionable insights for precision oncology.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and lead an innovative research program in clinical cancer informatics.
- Advance standardized terminologies, interoperability and mapping strategies to harmonise heterogeneous data sources.
- Integrate diverse clinical datasets and create advanced analytical approaches.
- Contribute to AI‑based decision‑support tools for radiation and medical oncology.
- Strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration between clinical and computational teams.
- Secure competitive third‑party funding and supervise early‑career researchers.
- Participate in undergraduate and graduate teaching and strategic digital‑medicine initiatives.
Required profile
- Medical degree (MD) or PhD with strong clinical insight.
- Proven research achievements in clinical informatics, data interoperability or data science.
- Experience with real‑world medical data, AI or computational methods in healthcare.
- Strong interest in translational and interdisciplinary research.
- Demonstrated ability (or potential) to lead research teams.
- Excellent communication skills and fluency in English; German skills or willingness to acquire them.
