Assistant Vice President, Claims Counsel

About the role

AvonRisk is seeking an Assistant Vice President, Claims Counsel to lead liability claim management and division operations. This senior, remote position combines hands‑on claim handling, team leadership, and business development across the nation.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of complex liability claims from intake through resolution, including litigation oversight, reserve setting, and expert coordination.
• Partner with senior executives to run day‑to‑day division operations, develop training, and update policies and procedures.
• Represent Intercare with clients, brokers, and industry peers; attend conferences, speak at events, and contribute to white papers.
• Support business development by responding to RFPs, delivering presentations, and cultivating relationships with risk managers and brokers.

Required profile

• Juris Doctorate (JD) or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• At least 10 years of experience managing liability claims and defending lawsuits, with 5+ years supervising claim professionals.
• Home‑state adjuster or law licensure (or ability to obtain within 60 days).
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and project‑management abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
• Experience using RMIS/claims management software.
• Familiarity with video‑conferencing platforms such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams.

• Salary range $180,000 – $190,000 annually, plus full benefits package.
