Associate Director, Scientific Digital Lead – Bioconjugation

About the role

Join Lonza in Visp, Switzerland as a Scientific Digital Lead for Bioconjugation. You will bridge science, data, AI and technology to accelerate development and deliver measurable business value across Advanced Synthesis.

Key responsibilities

• Identify opportunities where data, AI and computational technologies can enhance scientific outcomes.
• Partner with scientists and business stakeholders to translate challenges into impactful digital solutions.
• Define digital use cases, success criteria, user stories and high‑level functional requirements.
• Lead cross‑functional agile teams of subject‑matter experts, data scientists, data engineers and IT partners.
• Manage solution delivery from concept to deployment, ensuring adoption and value realization.
• Monitor emerging scientific and digital trends and recommend future capabilities.
• Act as a thought leader and mentor to grow digital capabilities across the organization.

Required profile

• PhD in Chemistry, Bioconjugation, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Computational Sciences or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Solid experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, CDMO, CRO or related scientific environments.
• Experience applying digital, data science, computational or AI‑driven approaches to R&D challenges.
• Proven ability to translate scientific needs into scalable digital products or solutions.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
