Associate Economic Affairs Officer

About the role
The Sustainable Transport Division of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe is seeking an Associate Economic Affairs Officer for a three‑month temporary assignment, with a possible extension. Reporting to the Economics Affairs Officer (P‑4) and the Director of the Transport Division, the incumbent will support economic analysis and intergovernmental processes related to inland transport.
Key responsibilities
- Collect, evaluate, interpret and analyse statistical and qualitative socio‑economic data from diverse sources.
- Maintain databases and develop programmes for database management, organising non‑quantitative information.
- Assist in the design, testing, operation and modification of econometric models.
- Prepare briefing notes, speech inputs and other material on economic or sector issues for non‑specialist audiences.
- Draft sector, country or regional components of analytical studies on development policies.
- Support the organization and servicing of expert group meetings, seminars and panels.
- Prepare inputs and summary reports for intergovernmental bodies and meetings.
- Contribute to data visualisation using graphs, charts and tables for reporting and decision‑making.
- Assist with the implementation of the ITC Climate Action Plan, including research for pilot national action plans.
Required profile
- Strong analytical mindset with ability to synthesize complex data for policy‑oriented audiences.
- Experience in preparing briefing notes, reports and presentations for intergovernmental settings.
- Capability to organise and support expert meetings and workshops.
- Willingness to undertake on‑the‑job training and professional development.
