Associate Statistician – Part‑time (50%)

About the role

The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe is seeking an Associate Statistician on a part‑time (50%) temporary basis. The role supports the Statistics and Data Division, focusing on climate change, environment and sustainable development data programmes.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide training and technical support for data‑collection programmes and country practices related to climate and sustainability.
  • Assist in organising workshops, seminars, expert meetings and technical assistance activities.
  • Develop or revise guidelines, tools, e‑learning resources and statistical standards through methodological research.
  • Prepare draft technical documents and contribute to reports and communication materials for international and intergovernmental meetings.
  • Guide, train and supervise general service and professional staff.
  • Collect, analyse and visualise data, identifying trends and presenting insights through graphs, charts and tables.
  • Design, plan and manage the collection, evaluation, analysis, compilation and dissemination of statistical data.
  • Develop, implement and maintain statistical databases.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

  • Demonstrated professionalism with the ability to extract, analyse and disseminate statistical data.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to tailor messages to diverse audiences.
  • Effective planning and organising capabilities, setting clear goals aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Commitment to gender equality and inclusive participation in all work activities.
