Astronomer Quality Assurance Lead (Remote)

About the role

This is a remote, hourly contract position where you will lead quality assurance for astronomy and astrophysics AI training projects. You will ensure that generated content meets scientific accuracy, clarity, and project‑specific standards.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee quality, consistency, and trainer performance across AI‑driven astronomy projects.
• Review AI‑generated astronomy/astrophysics content and evaluate it against detailed rubrics.
• Provide precise written feedback on scientific accuracy, unit handling, calculations, terminology, and formatting.
• Identify recurring quality issues, communicate updates to trainers and QA staff, and maintain documentation.
• Support onboarding of new contributors and reactivate inconsistent participants.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in Astronomy, Astrophysics, Physics, Space Science, Planetary Science, Cosmology or a closely related field.
• Strong command of English for written feedback and team communication.
• 3+ years of experience in astronomy/astrophysics research, teaching, science communication, academic review, data analysis or observatory work.
• Deep knowledge of celestial mechanics, stellar evolution, galaxies, cosmology, spectroscopy, planetary systems, black holes and scientific uncertainty.
