Character Designer

About the role

This role offers the chance to shape memorable, gameplay‑driven characters at the core of an ambitious video‑game project. Based in Switzerland, you will work in a highly collaborative environment, partnering with animators, gameplay programmers and designers to bring characters from concept to final implementation.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop characters that are tightly integrated with combat systems and player experience.
• Identify and create engaging gameplay hooks through character abilities and mechanics.
• Collaborate with animators, programmers and designers to prototype and implement combat features.
• Take character concepts through the full production cycle, from early ideation to in‑game release.
• Design and refine combat mechanics, weapons, abilities and character‑specific systems with a focus on balance.
• Use player feedback, analytics and metrics to iterate and improve designs.
• Support hands‑on prototyping using Unreal Engine workflows.
• Document and communicate design intent, mechanics and iteration updates.

Required profile

• At least 2 years of experience as a character designer on shipped titles.
• Proven ability to take character designs from concept through full production.
• Strong passion for third‑person action and combat‑focused gameplay.
• Deep understanding of character design principles, counterplay and balance.
• Portfolio showcasing original, thematic, gameplay‑integrated character designs.
• Experience in iterative, prototype‑driven development environments.
