About the role
The United Nations Information Service in Geneva is seeking a senior leader to head the Radio, Television and Webcast Section. Reporting to the Director of UNIS, the Chief will oversee the production and distribution of live broadcasts, webcasts and multimedia news across UN platforms.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate and supervise multimedia coverage (video, audio, text, photo) of UN meetings, media events and special programmes.
- Manage the Section’s staff, facilities and resources, prepare production budgets, and ensure compliance with UN editorial standards.
- Oversee procurement and maintenance of capital equipment and monitor expenditures.
- Lead contributions to the European Broadcasting Union, UNifeed, UN News, and other DGC platforms, including audio, radio, podcast and vodcast productions in English and French.
- Direct photographic coverage, extra‑budgetary multimedia projects and social‑media communication initiatives.
- Initiate and develop co‑production proposals with UN agencies, specialized bodies, broadcasters and Member States, and engage potential funders.
Required profile
- Extensive experience in multimedia journalism, broadcast production or public information within an international organization.
- Proven managerial experience supervising a multidisciplinary team and handling budgets.
- Fluency in English and French for content creation and coordination.
- Strong knowledge of UN communication policies and editorial standards.
Required skills
- Proficiency in video and audio production workflows.
- Familiarity with live‑streaming and webcast technologies.
- Ability to develop procurement plans for broadcast equipment.
