Data Governance Consultant – Strategy & Hands‑On

About the role

Orange Business is seeking a Data Governance Consultant who can blend strategic thinking with hands‑on execution. You will partner with Chief Data Officers and business stakeholders to design, implement, and embed data governance frameworks that turn data into a trusted business asset.

Key responsibilities

• Design and roll out data governance frameworks, policies, and processes aligned with business objectives.
• Define data ownership models, steward responsibilities, and data‑lifecycle rules in collaboration with business and IT teams.
• Lead deployment and configuration of governance tools such as data catalogs (e.g., Collibra, Alation), MDM solutions, and data‑quality platforms.
• Conduct hands‑on data profiling, quality checks, and issue‑resolution activities with technical teams.
• Support evaluation, selection, and implementation of data‑management platforms, including change‑management activities.
• Ensure compliance with data‑privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, nFADP) through robust governance practices and documentation.
• Promote a data‑driven culture by delivering training, creating internal documentation, and fostering adoption of governance practices.
• Stay current with industry best practices, emerging tools, and regulatory developments.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Management, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Hands‑on experience in data governance or data management, preferably in consulting or large‑scale organizations.
• Familiarity with data‑governance platforms (Collibra, Informatica, Talend, Ataccama, etc.).
• Strong understanding of data‑privacy regulations such as GDPR and nFADP.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and facilitation skills.
• Strategic mindset combined with willingness to execute operational tasks.
• Data‑governance or data‑management certification (e.g., CDMP, DGSP) is a plus.
• Fluent in English and French.
