About the role
Vitol, a global energy and commodities trader, is looking for a developer and business analyst for its in-house Commodity Trading Risk Management (CTRM) system, which covers trade entry, middle office, P&L reporting, price risk management and invoicing for every traded commodity. The role suits someone who wants end-to-end ownership of their solutions, from the first conversation with the business to rollout and beyond, in a flat, team-oriented environment.

- Work autonomously and take responsibility for the full lifecycle: requirements, design, development, testing, rollout, training and ongoing support.
- Engage directly with trading desks, finance and senior management to identify and prioritise requirements, acting as both business analyst and developer.
- Integrate with other development teams and act as a trusted partner to colleagues and stakeholders.
- Projects may include redesigning the CTRM reporting architecture, modelling cash-for-product loan repayments, building a valuation engine for complex options, and running systems integration with an acquired company.
- Large projects may require travel to other Vitol offices such as Houston, Singapore, London and Rotterdam.
Required profile
- University degree in Computer Science, Financial Engineering or an equivalent field.
- At least 3 years of experience as a software engineer, ideally combining technical and functional responsibilities.
- Proven data modelling skills and a proactive, user-focused "make it work" mentality.
- Comfortable with a daily release cycle and a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
- Excellent communication skills with non-technical and senior stakeholders; full professional English, written and spoken.
- Nice to have: commodities or trading industry experience, French, and PL/SQL or Oracle Forms builder experience.
Required skills
- Proficiency in SQL
- PL/SQL preferred, or a similar procedural database language (e.g. T-SQL)
- Data modelling
The office is central in Geneva, with a rooftop lunch area, and the work arrangement is office-based with one day per week home office.
