DevOps Engineer (Middle)

About the role

FORFIRM is looking for an experienced middle DevOps engineer to join its international team and contribute to complex infrastructure projects for Swiss and European clients. The role suits someone with deep hands-on expertise in large-scale UNIX and Linux environments, combined with solid knowledge of middleware, container orchestration and infrastructure automation, and who can work autonomously in cross-functional technical teams.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure and administer IBM WebSphere, Open Liberty and related middleware in development, test and production environments, supporting packaging, deployment and ongoing operations
• Help design and maintain web application infrastructure using Java.NET or Python
• Work with Kubernetes in production and non-production environments
• Design and maintain Infrastructure as Code solutions with Ansible and Terraform, and write Bash and Python automation scripts
• Engineer UNIX-based systems for deployment, performance and maintenance, tune performance and troubleshoot TCP/IP networking issues
• Take part in technical reviews and help shape consensus-driven design decisions

Required profile

• At least 5 years of experience administering large-scale UNIX environments (AIX 7 knowledge is a plus)
• At least 5 years of Linux administration, covering RHEL and Debian
• Solid scripting in Bash and Python, and strong knowledge of Ansible and Terraform
• Knowledge of Kubernetes administration and troubleshooting
• Experience with systems engineering and problem determination on Power7/8 hardware is a plus
• Fluent written and spoken English and Italian
• Good communication, documentation and mentoring skills, and the ability to work autonomously
