Senior Java Back-End Developer

About the role

THEMA Consulting is a solutions provider for the Treasury, Capital Markets and Risk Management divisions of banks and corporates, developing the Master Finance suite, a cross-asset front-to-accounting platform. As a Senior Java Back-End Developer you will join the product development team and help design, develop and maintain core services and frameworks of this complex, data-intensive financial platform. The role combines hands-on development, architectural ownership and system integration.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain core services and frameworks, taking part in architectural decisions, technical design, code reviews and software quality.
• Work with other developers, functional consultants and business stakeholders to turn demanding business requirements into robust technical solutions.
• Contribute to the evolution and integration of established enterprise components using modern Java and Spring technologies.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional experience developing enterprise Java applications, with demonstrated senior-level technical ownership.
• Proven experience designing and maintaining data-intensive, multi-tier applications, service-oriented and distributed applications, and product-based software with customer-specific configurations.
• Ability to drive technical design, evaluate trade-offs and collaborate in an international, multicultural environment.
• Fluent in Italian and English.

Required skills

• Java 25+, object-oriented design, SOLID principles, design patterns and dependency injection.
• Spring Framework and Spring Boot, Git and Gradle.
• Oracle RDBMS, SQL, database modelling, transaction management, ORM and performance tuning.
• JMS and asynchronous messaging; TLS, certificate management and mutual authentication.
• JUnit and automated unit and integration tests.
• Nice to have: Apache Thrift, ActiveMQ/RabbitMQ/Kafka, Jenkins, Scrum, Angular, and experience in banking, capital markets or risk management applications.
