About the role

The Director, Business Development leads sales growth across a defined geographic territory for Syneos Health, balancing strategic account farming with targeted hunting activities. This senior position drives both immediate impact and long‑term value by building trusted client relationships and orchestrating multi‑functional solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy for a defined book of business, balancing new client acquisition with growth of existing accounts.
• Prioritize territory activities using data‑informed insights to maximize performance and market potential.
• Identify, engage, and nurture key client relationships with decision‑makers and stakeholders at all levels.
• Lead tailored, multi‑touchpoint sales strategies based on client needs, pipeline dynamics, and strategic goals.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams—including operations, therapeutic strategy, deal strategy, and delivery—to co‑develop client‑specific solutions.
• Maintain up‑to‑date records of client activity, pipeline, and sales progress within CRM platforms such as Salesforce.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
• Experience in healthcare, life sciences, or biopharma in business development, commercial, or strategic sales roles.
• Proven success managing complex B2B sales cycles and navigating mid‑ to executive‑level client relationships.
• Strong consultative selling, influencing, and negotiation abilities with a collaborative leadership style.
• Ability to travel up to 40% for client meetings, conferences, and internal events.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Salesforce or similar CRM platforms.
• Microsoft Office Suite experience.
