Director of Industry Analysis

About the role

The Director of Industry Analysis will lead IATA’s economic research agenda, shaping insights on the global airline industry and its financial and environmental sustainability. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Sustainability and Chief Economist, you will guide a team of economists and influence policy makers.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the strategic work plan for the Industry Analysis team in line with division goals.
• Oversee quantitative modelling, industry performance analysis, and macro‑economic research.
• Produce research, forecasts, publications and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
• Lead and develop a team of economists, ensuring business continuity and professional growth.
• Coordinate with regional offices, integrate sustainability analyses, and manage ad‑hoc industry analysis requests.

Required profile

• Post‑graduate studies in economics, finance, statistics or related fields; PhD is a plus.
• At least 10 years of experience in economist roles, providing thought leadership to industry and regulators.
• Strong analytical, detail‑oriented mindset with ability to prioritize in a fast‑evolving environment.
• Excellent stakeholder management and interpersonal skills.
• Proven experience managing research professionals.
• Fluent English (additional languages a plus); willingness to travel up to 20%.
