Director, Translational Medicine – Neurodegeneration

About the role

The Director, Translational Medicine Expert (Neurodegeneration) will lead the end‑to‑end translational strategy for neurodegenerative programs, bridging preclinical research to early clinical development (Phase 1‑2) at Novartis in Basel.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute integrated translational strategies, linking target biology, biomarkers, and clinical endpoints.
• Lead biomarker development, validation and integration into clinical protocols for target engagement and disease modification.
• Co‑lead design and execution of Phase 1/2 studies, including dose escalation, exposure‑response, and translational endpoints.
• Represent Translational Medicine in global project teams and drive cross‑functional alignment.
• Build collaborations with academic KOLs, patient advocacy groups and technology partners.

Required profile

• MD or PhD/PharmD in Neurology, Neuroscience or related field with clinical training in neurodegenerative diseases.
• Experience in translational medicine, early clinical development or experimental therapeutics, preferably in pharma/biotech.
