Electrochemist / Battery Engineer

About the role

Join Unbound Potential, a Swiss startup developing a membrane‑less redox flow battery based on organic chemistry. As an Electrochemist/Battery Engineer you will design and implement testing protocols that translate electrochemical results into robust KPI data sheets and actionable performance metrics.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and conduct internal electrochemical testing protocols for electrolytes, electrodes and bipolar plates, including pre‑ and post‑mortem and corrosion analyses.
• Design and execute testing procedures for single cells and stacks, investigating flow rate, current density, state of charge and capacity utilization.
• Perform system‑level testing, evaluating round‑trip efficiency, coulombic efficiency and voltage efficiency.
• Plan and run long‑term stability and accelerated aging tests using climatic chambers.
• Optimize operational conditions to minimise self‑discharge and maximise efficiency.
• Validate and implement SOC and SOH monitoring techniques at the system level.

Required profile

• Master’s or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics or Chemistry with a strong electrochemistry foundation.
• Hands‑on experience with potentiostats and energy‑storage system testing (RFB, Li‑ion, fuel cells).
• Proven ability to test from single‑cell level up to full‑system validation.
