Electromechanical Technical Engineer for HTS Magnet Development

About the role
High‑temperature superconducting (HTS) materials offer unique properties for future magnet applications. CERN is looking for an Electromechanical Technical Engineer to develop and implement electromechanical systems for the manufacture and assembly of HTS magnets as part of an R&D programme.
Key responsibilities
- Design and implement dedicated electromechanical systems for HTS coil production, respecting safety regulations and industry standards.
- Carry out regular maintenance of machinery, electromechanical equipment and laboratory infrastructure.
- Prepare technical documentation, procedures, test and measurement reports, and ensure component traceability.
- Coordinate logistics and stock for assigned assemblies, manage manufacturing requests and purchase orders.
- Perform or organise acceptance tests for manufactured components and assemblies.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in electromechanical engineering or a related field.
- Hands‑on experience in design, manufacture, assembly and maintenance of complex electromechanical equipment.
- Experience with quality documentation, procedures and component traceability.
- Proficiency in English or French with a willingness to learn the other language.
Required skills
- Electromechanical system design.
- Construction, testing and installation of electromechanical equipment.
- Operation and maintenance of electromechanical machinery.
- Knowledge of electrical machine technology.
- Assembly of mechanical structures and equipment.
- Use of CAD tools for electromechanical design (asset).
- Familiarity with superconducting systems (asset).
