Evaluation Consultant

About the role

The Evaluation Consultant will support the UN Development Account‑funded project “Financing NbS for Green and Inclusive Recovery”. The work focuses on Colombia and Brazil, helping them meet SDGs, the Paris Climate Agreement, and the Kunming‑Montreal Biodiversity Framework while advancing poverty reduction and food security.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse the misallocation of public finance in the agricultural sector and its impact on greenhouse‑gas emissions and biodiversity loss.
• Assess the nature finance gap and quantify the contribution of harmful agricultural subsidies.
• Provide evidence‑based recommendations to align public finance with sustainable agriculture and nature‑positive outcomes.
• Contribute to UNEP’s Nature and Finance & Economic Transformation programmes.
• Prepare concise reports and briefing notes for senior UNEP officials and project partners.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in economics, environmental science, public policy, or a related field.
• Experience in evaluating public finance mechanisms, especially in agriculture or climate‑related sectors.
• Familiarity with international environmental agreements and sustainable development goals.
• Strong analytical and writing skills, with the ability to communicate complex findings to diverse audiences.
