General Counsel – Corporate Legal Services

About the role

ABB is looking for an experienced and strategic legal leader to serve as General Counsel, Corporate Legal Services. In this executive position you will head the Corporate Legal Services Center of Expertise (CoE), overseeing Legal Finance, Corporate Legal and Antitrust functions, and provide strategic guidance across the global organization.

Key responsibilities

• Define, develop and execute the strategy and performance targets for the Corporate Legal Services CoE.
• Serve as an engaged member of the L&I Senior Leadership Team and advise the Executive Committee on Group‑level legal and policy decisions.
• Manage enterprise‑wide projects and address complex legal challenges in a global matrix environment.
• Oversee end‑to‑end service processes, set global KPIs, and deliver measurable value to ABB Group management.
• Establish and execute the Annual Performance Plan for the CoE, ensuring accountability and robust reporting.
• Promote process standardisation, best‑practice sharing and continuous performance monitoring.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, external legal frameworks and regulatory requirements.
• Lead risk‑management and integrity initiatives, upholding ABB’s code of conduct and ethical standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a senior legal leader in a global, matrix‑based organization.
• Demonstrated ability to provide strategic counsel to executive committees and senior leadership.
• Strong governance, risk‑management and compliance mindset.
• Collaborative leadership style with the capacity to influence across functions.
• Fluency in English and familiarity with corporate, finance and antitrust law.
