About the role
The consultant will support UNEP FI and the GFANZ Africa network in strengthening carbon markets as a credible climate‑finance tool across the continent. Working remotely, the role involves designing and executing a workplan and strategy aligned with the Central GFANZ Secretariat’s priorities.
Key responsibilities
- Provide technical expertise on carbon markets in Africa.
- Develop and refine the GFANZ Africa carbon‑market strategy and related outputs.
- Engage and coordinate with financial institutions, policymakers and other stakeholders to promote market‑based climate solutions.
- Design and implement a workplan for the GFANZ Africa Network, building on central Secretariat guidance.
- Collaborate with UNEP FI climate teams and the GFANZ Team to ensure alignment of activities.
Required profile
- Demonstrated experience in carbon markets, climate finance or related policy work in Africa.
- Ability to work independently and remotely for a six‑month consultancy.
- Strong stakeholder‑engagement and coordination skills.
